My two year anniversary
Late May is the anniversary of my take up of digital photography after I discovered the existence of digital mirrorless cameras in May 2023.
As a total novice my first year was spent learning the basics of photography and working out what sort of gear worked for me. I started my journey with the Lumix FZ82 bridge camera which I highly recommend for anyone trying our wildlife photography for the first time. Bitten by the bug, and thanks to MPB buying my "old" kit at a good price, I quickly upgraded to the Canon r10. After trialling the Canon rf 100-400 I settled on the Sigma 150-600 contemporary zoom as my main lens.
The start of my second year saw the purchase of a Canon r6 Mk2, again with the assistance of MPB buying the Canon r10. The R6ii along with the Sigma 150-600 lens has been my "wildlife kit" ever since.
Having spent the last 12 months learning the r6, exploring new locations and joining organisations such as Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the National Trust I am now trying to be a little more "artistic" in my approach.
The beauty of photography, and particularly nature photography is the there is always something new to learn.
