The first growth of spring.

Young green plants sprout around a moss-covered tree base in a forest setting. The ground is damp and covered with leaves and twigs.
Snowdrops bloom amid tangled brown branches and green foliage in a woodland setting. The mood is serene.
Yellow daffodils and white snowdrops bloom on a grassy patch near a dirt path.

Again, dodging the rain showers I paid another early morning visit to the Ben Rydding Nature Reserve, which like the rest of the UK is still resembling a quagmire. Amazingly through all that mud we can see the first growth of spring.

Encountering new growth under the trees when I first walked in I also found a delightful spread of snowdrops hiding between brambles and one of the water filled gravel pits. To top off the the feeling that spring is on its way were the daffodils near the river on the way out.
